Epic Games has officially delayed its upcoming project featuring Disney characters as the company undergoes a major internal transition. The studio is shifting its development strategy to prioritize the integration of artificial intelligence across its production pipeline.

CEO Tim Sweeney stated on X that the company is undergoing a massive change by reorienting its programming staff toward accelerating AI capabilities. Sweeney claims the goal is to empower employees to achieve higher productivity and quality in their work rather than reducing the total headcount.

Despite these official statements, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier claims that staff are now required to utilize Claude models for development tasks and are prohibited from writing code manually. This mandate has reportedly caused significant anxiety among the workforce, especially following recent layoffs at the studio.

The project, described as an extraction shooter incorporating Marvel and Star Wars intellectual properties, is now being built with code generated almost entirely by AI. Many employees remain skeptical of management's assurances, fearing that this technological pivot will lead to further job losses.
