Ember Lab has announced that Kena: Scars of Kosmora will now be released in 2027. The delay is intended to allow the development team to deliver a top-tier game of significantly larger scale and higher ambition than their 2021 debut title, Bridge of Spirits.
The upcoming title remains a linear, character-focused adventure with greater depth and a broader scope than its predecessor. Ahead of the game's events, Kena studied as a Spirit Guide, serving as both a warrior and spiritual healer who combats Corruptions caused by restless dead.
The story follows Kena as she confronts her own limitations and personal sorrows, journeying to the mysterious island of Kosmora after her childhood friend Orfio believes it holds answers. Kosmora features active living cultures alongside ancient Alchemical Temples and dungeon challenges tied to four elemental guiding cultures.
Kena will traverse the expanded world using a new crystal canine companion, an ancient spirit serving as a mount, puzzle-solving aid, and combat partner. Kena: Scars of Kosmora will launch in 2027 as a physical and digital release on PS5, and digitally on PC.
