Key information
Level Infinite released the side story GINGERBREAD HOUSE for Goddess of Victory: NIKKE on the 8th. This narrative continues the OLD TALES storyline, finally reuniting the long-missing twins Hansel and Gretel with their former comrades, Cinderella, Grave, and Little Mermaid.
The story reveals that after the OLD TALES group scattered, the twins survived through a slave contract with the Heretic Bernuiah. Bernuiah, who possesses advanced technical skills, repaired the heavily damaged Gretel by using her own body parts as an energy source. This act of survival highlights the complex nature of Heretics, as Bernuiah operates independently of the Queen’s control.
Speculation suggests Bernuiah may be the first CEO of Missilis. Her technical expertise in modifying bodies and her knowledge of Heretic origins align with the company's history. Furthermore, the narrative explores themes of identity and the 'Ship of Theseus,' mirroring previous character arcs within the game.
With the twins now joining the fight against the Queen, the group prepares for a final confrontation. Meanwhile, the character Mori, having sought training from Bernuiah to improve her combat capabilities, may undergo significant upgrades, potentially leading to future character variations as the story progresses.
