Key information

The upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 serves as a comprehensive reimagining of the 1998 classic. Designed to celebrate the franchise's 40th anniversary, the title moves beyond simple visual updates to modernize the experience while maintaining the original's architectural essence and geographical layout.

Technical and gameplay overhauls are significant. The game now runs at a constant 60 frames per second with fully recreated environments. Players gain a 360-degree free camera, a manual jump button, and a sprint mechanic triggered after rolling. Swimming is now governed by an endurance gauge, and equipment like the Iron Boots can be assigned to quick-access shortcuts.

Immersion is deepened through full voice acting and a symphonic orchestral soundtrack. Additionally, the game introduces gyroscopic aiming for the bow and slingshot, and allows players to play melodies using the console's microphone. A new "Threads of Time" system helps track objectives, while a continuous day/night cycle replaces the static time found in the original.

Despite these modernizations, Nintendo has intentionally preserved the original's structural progression and dungeon design. While some loading screens remain between major regions to maintain the game's pacing, specific areas like the Kokiri village shop no longer require them. The initial wallet capacity has also been increased to 200 rupees.
