French content creator J0nathan has reported the permanent deletion of his YouTube channel, which previously hosted 3,000 videos and served 190,000 subscribers. The ban occurred after he uploaded gameplay footage of Saber Interactive’s title, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival.
The game features an explicit opening sequence involving nudity and BDSM themes. Although J0nathan applied black boxes to censor the nudity, YouTube upheld the ban for violating policies against sexually gratifying content. The creator noted that he did not apply an age restriction to the video, assuming his manual censorship would suffice.
J0nathan expressed frustration that his appeal process appeared to be handled entirely by automated systems rather than human reviewers. He further highlighted that uncensored footage of the same game sequence remains accessible on other channels, raising concerns regarding the consistency of YouTube's enforcement.
Prior to the game's launch, developer Saber Interactive advised creators to utilize age restrictions and sexual theme labels to comply with platform guidelines. The developer confirmed the absence of a dedicated streamer mode, noting that content context remains a factor in moderation decisions.
