Key information
Rockstar Games development head Rob Nelson recently provided extensive insights into Grand Theft Auto VI, detailing the dynamic relationship between protagonists Lucia and Jason. Players can switch between characters instantly, with the inactive partner continuing their own routine, leading to unpredictable gameplay scenarios. This system extends to combat, where the AI partner provides support and protection during tense encounters.
The game introduces a Criminal Profile system, which Nelson distinguishes from Red Dead Redemption 2’s honor mechanics. This system tracks habitual actions, influencing how the world and narrative evolve. Unlike previous entries, players no longer possess absolute power; NPCs are armed and react realistically to the player's presence, creating a more challenging environment.
Exploration in Leonida features spontaneous mission opportunities where characters may suggest activities during travel. Nelson highlights that the world is highly reactive, with NPCs noticing if players eavesdrop on their conversations. Additionally, driving is designed to be more demanding due to narrower streets and realistic traffic density.
Regarding social features, players can follow users on the in-game Snapmatic app to read posts, though they cannot share their own content to maintain a low profile. Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled for release on November 19.
