Key information
Xbox has officially established a new division named XP, which is dedicated to television and film projects. This branch will be led by Kayleen Walters, a Lucasfilm veteran and former president of Mojang who served as an executive producer on A Minecraft Movie.
The XP division is structured around four primary pillars. Xbox Pictures will manage linear storytelling and screen adaptations, while Xbox Products focuses on creating merchandise authentic to fan interests. Additionally, Xbox Places will oversee live events and immersive attractions, and Xbox Partnerships will cultivate collaborations with brands and creators.
This initiative follows previous multimedia efforts, such as the 2012 launch of Xbox Entertainment Studios, which aimed to produce console-exclusive television content before closing two years later. Recent strategy has shifted toward broader brand integration, including the Halo television series and retail collaborations like IKEA.
Walters brings a strong track record to the role, having overseen Minecraft's growth to over 425 million units sold and the successful launch of A Minecraft Movie. Her leadership aims to build upon these achievements as Xbox continues to expand its influence beyond traditional video game development.
