Key information

Xbox has formally denied recent reports claiming the company secured exclusive game-streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto 6. Speculation originally arose following a report from The Verge, which cited an all-hands meeting where CEO Asha Sharma allegedly told employees that Xbox planned to execute a unique initiative regarding the upcoming title.

The initial reporting inferred that these alleged rights would let users stream GTA 6 via Xbox Cloud Gaming on any supported platform, notably including PC where the title is not natively available. Shortly after publication, Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball addressed the claims on X to clarify the situation.

Ball explicitly stated that the company will not feature exclusive streaming rights for GTA 6, nor will the title be streamable on PC. He confirmed that the game is scheduled to launch on Xbox on November 19. However, Ball did not deny the possibility of cloud streaming rights restricted specifically to Xbox consoles.

Meanwhile, Rockstar has not announced any official streaming agreements with any provider ahead of the November 19 release date. Xbox continues to adjust its cloud infrastructure, recently capping Ultimate Game Pass streaming at 15 hours monthly and preparing a standalone paid playtime model for November.
