Microsoft's upcoming Project Helix will feature a family of devices for the next generation rather than just a single console. In a leaked internal memo obtained by Windows Central, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma outlined the company's hardware plans for Gen-10 after previously hinting at the concept during Gamescom earlier this year.
Sharma stated in the memo that there is no single device that fits all players, confirming that while a great console will come first, other options will cater to users on the go. Microsoft plans to manufacture certain hardware directly while partnering with other companies for different devices, with the operating system already beginning to look promising.
The memo additionally referenced Xbox PC and Battle.net, highlighting Blizzard's launcher for user retention levels nearly on par with Steam. Sharma noted that Microsoft intends to approach these communities properly as the company continues developing its user experience and hardware suite.
