Key information
Programmer Lorean Xavier has released a native PC port of Hideo Kojima's P.T., the influential horror demo delisted from the PlayStation Network in 2015. Unlike previous fan-made recreations or emulated versions, this project translates the original code to run on Windows and Linux.
The port does not contain copyrighted materials, requiring users to provide their own dumped copy of the game. By avoiding emulation, Xavier was able to integrate modern graphical features and mod support. Development on this project began in 2024.
Xavier aimed to preserve the authentic experience, noting that past remakes often failed to capture the original's specific lighting, atmosphere, and behavioral nuances. While he utilized AI for debugging and testing, he emphasized that he personally managed the architecture and code implementation.
The port has received praise for its accuracy. Lance McDonald, known for datamining the original game, described the release as a 1:1 port of the codebase. The project is currently available for users on GitHub.
