Key information
Xbox executive Matt Booty recently announced a significant shift in the management of the Halo franchise. Future development of the series will now be handled by a new team under Activision, while Halo Studios, previously known as 343 Industries, will transition to a smaller oversight role for existing titles. This restructuring resulted in the layoff of 268 employees.
In a final edition of the Canon Fodder blog, community writer Alex Wakeford provided a look at concepts originally intended for the franchise. This included environments for Zeta Halo that were potentially planned for Halo Infinite downloadable content.
The blog revealed the Endless, also called the Xalanyn or children of Abaddon. These beings were previously teased through the Harbinger, an advanced race imprisoned by the Forerunners for their ability to survive Halo ring activations. The designs feature diverse appearances, ranging from humanoid forms to sea creature-like entities, often accompanied by smaller creatures such as Skimmers.
While these designs offer a glimpse into what might have been, the future role of the Endless under the new management remains uncertain. Wakeford expressed hope that these reveals would encourage fan speculation.
