Key information

Japanese companies San-Ei and Iid have officially announced plans to bring the Chinese gaming event WePlay Expo to Japan. The organizers have secured necessary licensing from the China Indie Game Alliance, which is also collaborating on the production of the event.

The inaugural Japanese iteration is scheduled to take place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba from April 2-4, 2027. The event structure designates the first day, a Friday, as a business day, while the following two days are open to the public.

While the venue is known for hosting the Tokyo Game Show, the first WePlay Expo will occupy a smaller footprint, specifically utilizing Halls 5 and 6 at the center of the facility. The Tokyo Game Show is listed as an event partner on the official website.

An official website is currently live with English support. Organizers indicate that the expo will feature various attractions, including merchandise shops, tournament stages, presentations, and booths offering hands-on demo builds for upcoming titles.
