Key information

PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba recently addressed the future of the character action franchise featuring a gun-wielding witch, despite multiple major developers leaving the Osaka studio. Original director Hideki Kamiya founded a new studio called Clovers, while other notable departures include Masaki Yamanaka, Kenji Saito, Takahisa Taura, and Yusuke Hashimoto.

The studio head noted that future development is not straightforward because the property is co-owned by Sega and Nintendo, which respectively published the initial entries. Bayonetta 2 launched as a Nintendo Wii U exclusive before receiving Nintendo Switch ports, and Bayonetta 3 debuted on Switch in the year 2022.

Speaking to Famitsu via VGC during a promotional partnership with Shift-Up chief Hyung-tae Kim for Stellar Blade, Inaba stated that the team holds a strong desire to further develop the character and expand her world. He asked fans to look forward to future developments.

Meanwhile, PlatinumGames released Ninja Gaiden 4 in collaboration with Team Ninja on October 21, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series systems. The studio is also developing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, announced in June 2026.
