Key information

PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba has expressed a strong desire to continue developing the character of Bayonetta and expand her fictional universe. Speaking in an interview with Famitsu, via VGC, Inaba addressed the future of the action series, noting that while he cannot provide a definitive answer at the moment, fans should look forward to seeing how the franchise evolves.

The potential continuation of the series comes despite several prominent departures from the Osaka-based studio. Original game director Hideki Kamiya has left to start a new studio called Clovers, while other notable figures such as Masaki Yamanaka, Kenji Saito, Takahisa Taura, and Bayonetta 2 director Yusuke Hashimoto have also departed.

Furthermore, any future installments face structural complexities because the Bayonetta intellectual property is co-owned by Sega and Nintendo. Nintendo previously published the Wii U exclusive sequel, which later came to Nintendo Switch alongside Bayonetta 3 in 2022.
