Rowan, Rook, and Decard have released a new sourcebook titled Ways and Means for the tabletop roleplaying game A New Heart: The City Beneath. This expansion provides a variety of new content designed to enhance both player options and Gamesmaster tools for navigating the game's dangerous depths.
The player-focused section introduces four new classes, including the fungal Blightborn and the Snail Pilgrim, alongside four new Callings such as the Demagogue and Containment. Players can also utilize new equipment, hirelings like the legbreaker, and pets such as the watch-hog. The book further details black market spells, artistic supplies, and ten legendary items, including a railway chronometer that overrules local time.
For Gamesmasters, the book offers modular components to construct thematic journeys through the Heart's domains. It also features sixteen Bounties, which are short-form jobs ranging from protecting a vital bee to escorting an aelfir princeling. These missions are intended to serve as catalysts for one-shot games or ongoing campaigns.
Alongside the sourcebook, the publisher has released the Delve Deck. This product reformats delve events from the main book into shuffleable cards, allowing Gamesmasters to generate random encounters or blend events from different domains for quick inspiration during play.
