Key information
Ubisoft underwent a major restructuring at the beginning of 2026, organizing its operations around five Creative House systems designed to manage specific franchises based on their primary focus. However, the Watch Dogs franchise was notably absent from any of the Creative Houses, sparking confusion among fans and investors alike.
During an annual Ubisoft meeting in early October 2026 reported by Gamefile, CEO Yves Guillemot addressed an investor inquiry regarding the missing franchise. Guillemot stated that Watch Dogs is not currently included in a Creative House ahead of any potential remakes, explaining that the brand is not a top priority at the moment.
Despite this current stance, Yves noted that Ubisoft views Watch Dogs as an important brand for the future, though he did not elaborate with specific details. The first game achieved success upon its 2014 release, though subsequent titles received mixed responses compared to the original.
Meanwhile, separate rumors suggest the franchise could receive a Director’s Cut edition for Watch Dogs: Legion slated for release in 2027. Fans must currently wait to see if these rumors materialize or if the IP will eventually be assigned to a Creative House.
