Key information

During the Meta Connect 2026 event on US time September 23, 2026, Meta Platforms announced the Meta VR Glasses, a new VR head-mounted display slated for release in spring 2027. The US market price is set at 1299.99 dollars, while Japanese pricing remains unannounced.

Unlike the integrated Meta Quest series, the new headset separates the computing unit into a separate compute pack. This design reduces the goggle portion's official body weight to roughly 100g, about one-fifth of prior models, while the separate compute pack weighs approximately 300g and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite SoC with 12GB of main memory and 128GB of internal storage.

The headset incorporates micro-OLED panels for a 5K Infinite Display with 2412x2288 resolution per eye, Dolby Vision support, and a pixel density of 37 PPD. However, its horizontal 70-degree and vertical 66-degree field of view is narrower than that of Meta Quest 3 and 3S. It lacks built-in diopter adjustment, meaning nearsighted users must use contact lenses or magnetic insert lenses.

Operating without included VR controllers, the device relies on integrated hand gestures and eye-tracking cameras, though it also supports existing Touch Plus controllers for standard games. At launch, over 75 hand-gesture compatible games will be available, alongside compatibility with thousands of existing Meta Quest titles and PC or Mac connectivity options.
