Key information
Ninja Theory has reportedly begun reducing its workforce following an earlier announcement regarding the studio's potential closure by Xbox. Last month, Xbox COO Matt Booty stated that agreements to keep the developer operational or independent failed, leading to proposed shut down consultations.
The outcomes of these studio consultations have now emerged, with multiple developers taking to LinkedIn to confirm they have been made redundant or are facing job losses. Journalist Chris Kerr first spotted these developments, which were subsequently verified by VGC.
An affected developer expressed sorrow over the situation, noting that staff will not be permitted to finish their current project. The developer highlighted the immense care and talent poured into the uncompleted title by the team.
These personnel reductions follow Xbox's implementation of a second wave of business cuts, resulting in 268 additional layoffs following an initial wave of 1,600 positions. Consultations regarding Ninja Theory's future continue alongside alternative paths explored by leadership.
