Key information
Publisher Galactic Crows and developer Tarba Paul Cornel have announced the psychological horror game VCR83 for PC. Alongside the announcement, a playable demo has been released on Steam, and the game is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2026 with support for Japanese text.
VCR83 challenges players to monitor real-time security cameras and report anomalies that do not belong in the environment. The game utilizes retro visuals reminiscent of VHS footage and includes grotesque imagery throughout to create an unsettling atmosphere.
Players report discovered anomalies by clicking on the target, earning tokens upon correct submissions to unlock new levels and progress the narrative. Completing each level also unlocks a short epilogue lasting about three to five minutes, allowing players to return to the location after their shift and discover what happened after the camera recording stopped.
The title features multiple modes that alter the pacing, play style, and surveillance difficulty. Additionally, players are assisted by a virtual assistant named Pete, who evolves from a simple helper into an increasingly engaged presence that reacts to work results, speaks to the player, and sings as the game progresses.
