Key information
Unity announced Unity Spark, a browser-based tool slated for a beta launch later this year that enables users to design 3D games through text prompts. Running entirely in web browsers without downloads, the platform is restricted to individuals aged 18 and older. While arising from a strategic collaboration with Google, Unity Spark integrates multiple generative AI models rather than relying solely on Google technology.
The platform links directly with the Unity Asset Store, allowing AI agents to suggest community-created items, backgrounds, or lighting toggle tools based on text inputs and user actions. CEO Matt Bromberg stated that the software avoids single-prompt generation, focusing instead on iterative creation. Multiple participants can collaborate via shared links, and creations can be published on Google Playground.
At launch, projects cannot be downloaded, exported to the full desktop Unity engine, or commercialized. Payment will operate via a credit system tied to AI tokens, featuring free initial credits alongside paid options whose final details remain unfinalized. Meanwhile, Unity 7 is scheduled for Q1 2027 and will incorporate AI tools as a core feature without mandating their use by studios.
