Rumors indicate that Ubisoft intends to launch a new edition of Watch Dogs Legion during the first semester of 2027. This potential Director's Cut project follows remarks from Yves Guillemot, who previously suggested no active projects were underway for the franchise.
During Ubisoft's general assembly held on September 30, an investor questioned the absence of Watch Dogs within the publisher's newly structured Creative Houses. Yves Guillemot responded that Ubisoft views Watch Dogs as an important brand for the future, noting its omission from the Creative Houses is intentional until the brand is potentially rethought.
According to Insider Gaming, the upcoming Director's Cut of Watch Dogs Legion acts as a second chance for a game featuring an ambitious recruiting mechanic. The original release suffered from a campaign lacking memorable characters and featuring overly repetitive objectives.
Insider Gaming reports that roughly one hundred employees at Ubisoft Montréal are reportedly assigned to this new project. Meanwhile, Game File relayed Yves Guillemot's statements regarding the deliberate exclusion of the franchise from current creative divisions.
