Key information

The single-developer survival game Novus Inceptio, created by Martin Markus Mastný under McMagic Productions, has received its first update since 2018. Originally launched in October 2015, the early access production had been inactive for over eight years before the developer returned to fulfill his vision.

The recent update introduces a significantly expanded map, growing the wilderness area from 9 km² to 64 km². In addition, the developer completely redesigned the combat system while keeping the current mode strictly single-player, though cooperative gameplay formats are planned for the future.

Mastný explained that dealing with community management, customer service, bug fixing, and constant pressure between 2016 and 2019 led to a personal breakdown. He noted that avoiding multiplayer previously harmed the game commercially and acknowledged that today's market is much harder for solo developers.

Driven by commitment and a desire not to leave his project unfinished, Mastný returned with renewed energy. He stated that he wants to earn back players' trust over time rather than making empty promises, aiming to conclude this chapter of his life with dignity.
