Key information
A new project titled Seamless Landings seeks to address a major criticism of Starfield since its September 2023 release: the frequent loading screens encountered when traveling between space and planetary surfaces. Creator Frederik Wessberg is a Nerd has spent approximately six months developing this free modification to allow for fluid transitions.
The mod aims to replicate the exploration experience found in No Man's Sky. A two-minute gameplay demonstration shows a spacecraft approaching a planet, entering the atmosphere, and descending to the surface without any loading interruptions.
Beyond removing loading screens, the mod introduces atmospheric and visual enhancements. These include 3D volumetric clouds, electrical storms, polar auroras, and lighting adjusted for specific planetary atmospheres. Additionally, the system adds re-entry heating effects to the ship's hull and new cockpit instrumentation for descent.
Seamless Landings remains in development with no specific release date provided, though the creator expects it to be available soon. Once completed, the mod will be available for free download via Nexus Mods.
