Ubisoft is facing an evident revenue crisis and internal restructuring involving Tencent, which has resulted in numerous layoffs. To minimize risks during a time of escalating budgets and development timelines, the company is leaning on nostalgia and amortized projects to balance its fiscal year.

According to reports published by Insider Gaming and subsequently confirmed by IGN using its own sources, Ubisoft is preparing a definitive version of Watch Dogs Legion for the first half of next year.

Released in 2020, Watch Dogs Legion featured a dystopian London setting and an NPC recruitment system. However, it suffered from a significant number of bugs, mediocre enemy AI, and lacked the robustness of the first two entries. Notably, Legion is the only game in the trilogy without official sales figures and holds the lowest Metacritic score.

Clint Hocking, the former creative director of Watch Dogs Legion who was also leading the development of Assassin's Creed Hexe, left Ubisoft this year. Furthermore, the Watch Dogs IP was absent during the creative house split prompted by the company's restructuring.
