Key information
Ubisoft has announced plans to eliminate approximately 100 positions within its German operations. The affected locations include studios in Dusseldorf, Berlin, and Mainz. To mitigate direct layoffs, the company is currently seeking voluntary departures through financial compensation packages.
The Dusseldorf studio, which currently employs over 400 staff, is expected to bear the brunt of these reductions. Meanwhile, the Berlin and Mainz offices each house nearly 100 employees. Mainz is recognized for developing Anno 117: Pax Romana, released in November 2025, while the other sites contribute to titles like Rainbow Six Siege and Rayman Legends Retold.
Beyond Germany, Ubisoft is implementing staff cuts at its Singapore studio, which recently worked on the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake and Skull & Bones. Additionally, the company intends to close its Finnish studio, RedLynx. These moves follow a broader trend of downsizing, with total headcount dropping from 20,729 in September 2022 to 16,590 by March 2026.
Regarding the German restructuring, Ubisoft is currently engaged in negotiations with employee representatives. These meetings aim to finalize the specific terms and conditions for the proposed voluntary departure agreements.
