Key information
Ubisoft is embracing generative artificial intelligence with a new project called Motherbrain. According to a newsletter by Stephen Totilo, the initiative is connected to the French publisher's investments in AI, including artificial intelligence as a service.
Motherbrain is set to be implemented in many of Ubisoft's upcoming productions to accelerate gameplay innovation. The project forms part of the publisher's new strategy alongside Creative Houses and the Creative Network online services infrastructure, which were highlighted as fundamental during a corporate restructuring early in the year.
Xavier Manzanares, a 23-year Ubisoft veteran and former leader of the Mario + Rabbids franchise, will lead the initiative. Additionally, an internal announcement distributed to employees described Motherbrain as a global entity and a common base for the company's studios.
Sources reported by Insider Gaming indicate that generative artificial intelligence is now widely utilized across Ubisoft, to the point that presentations lacking any mention of GenAI feel unusual.
