Key information
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot addressed an investor regarding the future of the Watch Dogs franchise, stating that the company views the intellectual property as an important brand for the future. However, Game File reporter Stephen Totilo indicated that Guillemot revealed there are currently no Watch Dogs games in active development.
The original Watch Dogs made its debut in 2014 after originally being intended to launch alongside the PS4 in November 2013, following Grand Theft Auto 5 in September 2013. A San Francisco-set sequel followed two years later, while the third installment, Watch Dogs: Legion, launched in 2020 featuring the ability to control any NPC, though it received mixed reviews.
Additionally, a Watch Dogs movie wrapped production two years ago with reshoots occurring last year, but it currently lacks a release date and meaningful promotion. While Ubisoft may pursue more Watch Dogs titles in the future, players should not expect a new entry within the next few years.
