Strange Creature Factory has unveiled its debut title, Black Tides: Draga's Wake, a survival horror game that combines 1909-era settings with fantasy and intense gore. The project is led by Greg Strangis, an artist known for his work on GTA 5, Max Payne 3, and various Naughty Dog titles, alongside experience in creature effects for Guillermo del Toro films.

The narrative follows Draga, a pirate first mate whose steam-powered whaling ship becomes trapped in ice. Players must survive against cosmic beings and apocalyptic cults. Combat emphasizes melee mechanics, including dodges, blocks, and strikes, while featuring a body horror aesthetic where the protagonist's physical form tears during encounters.

Gameplay includes ranged weapons with limited ammunition, alongside exploration and puzzle-solving segments. A unique mechanic allows players to absorb enemies to execute them, restore health, or potentially gain new abilities. The game is designed as a linear, narrative-driven experience.

Currently in early development, the game lacks a release date and external funding. Despite this, it has surpassed 10,000 wishlists on Steam. The studio is actively seeking a publisher to complete the project, which aims to fill the void left by the Dead Space series.
