Key information

Martin Klima, cofounder of Warhorse Studios and developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, stated in an interview with PC Gamer that he is bored and tired of traditional role-playing games aimed at teenagers.

The developer explained that while he enjoys the RPG genre, he dislikes repetitive storylines where the player acts as the chosen one with a mission to save the universe. He noted that many people likely share this fatigue and desire something new and different.

According to Klima, developers continue targeting 16 and 17-year-olds who enjoy power fantasy games, despite the modern gaming audience being much older. He specifically clarified that his comments were not a criticism of Expedition 33.

Klima placed blame on major publishers for recycling proven formulas from the past. While praising Ubisoft for excellent manual labor, polished animations, and bug-free titles, he expressed a preference for that level of craftsmanship to support innovative ideas rather than repeating the same game for the tenth time.
