Key information
Infinity Ward is positioning the DMZ extraction mode as a major pillar for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, building directly upon the DMZ beta released in 2022 for Modern Warfare 2.
The studio emphasizes combat and engagement over menus and looting, aiming to create an action extraction experience with a streamlined user interface featuring clear icons.
DMZ features its own separate economy and a 70-level progression system unique to the mode, while sharing weapon progression with the main multiplayer offerings and Warzone.
The new map Haijin hosts the largest population of enemy artificial intelligence built by the developer, featuring four difficulty tiers of foes culminating in roaming Commanders guarded by tough escorts.
Players also gain access to a walk-around Forward Operating Base home base containing interactive stations, a 3D printer for crafting, a vendor, a bounty leaderboard, and a boss board.
The mode launches alongside Modern Warfare 4 on 23rd October across Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.
