Key information

CD Projekt has released a significant update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, addressing community feedback regarding the game's visual presentation. Players previously reported that heavy bloom effects created a washed-out appearance, obscuring shadows and graphical details. The new patch aims to resolve these concerns by providing more control over the game's lighting and post-processing effects.

Patch 5.01 introduces new graphics settings that allow console players to toggle bloom, light shafts, and depth of field. Beyond these user-facing options, the developer implemented broader technical improvements, including refinements to tone mapping, character lighting, and ray tracing and path tracing technologies. The update also addresses various performance optimizations and UI bugs.

The update, which is approximately 5.5 GB on consoles and 8.5 GB on PC, also resolves several gameplay and system issues. Notable fixes include correcting ladder interaction animations, addressing unresponsive dodging, and fixing an issue where PlayStation 5 settings would reset upon launch. Additionally, the patch implements a fix for voiceover audio levels on consoles.

Looking ahead, CD Projekt is developing an update for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game to ensure parity with other platforms, with further details expected soon. The studio also announced a new expansion titled Songs of the Past, scheduled for 2027, and confirmed that The Witcher 4 is currently planned for a 2028 release.
