Key information
CD Projekt Red is revisiting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with a comprehensive and free update known as Wild Hunt Remastered. This release precedes the upcoming expansion Songs of the Past and offers a variety of improvements, arriving alongside forthcoming content updates from the studio.
According to the reviewer, the visual presentation receives a heavy touch with reworked global lighting, upgraded assets, and adjusted foliage shading. Players can choose between performance and ray-tracing modes, with the base PlayStation 5 targeting 4k resolution at sixty frames per second in performance mode and thirty frames per second with ray-tracing enabled. The PlayStation 5 Pro achieves sixty frames per second across both modes.
Gameplay mechanics retain their established foundations while introducing smoother responsiveness, new finishers, sign effects, and an adaptive camera. Additionally, the reviewer notes that the skill tree has been overhauled into a traditional downward-progressing vertical layout for each core pillar, allowing for greater flexibility and rebalanced builds.
Despite these enhancements, the reviewer encountered technical issues including dialogue volume drops caused by audio mixing, a hard crash, and minor progression bugs requiring reloaded saves. The package also includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions for free to base game owners.
