Key information
Since its initial release, CD Projekt RED has supported The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with a robust rollout of downloadable content. This includes a weekly post-launch program of 16 free DLCs featuring new quests, alternative character appearances, armor sets, and a New Game + mode. Most of these smaller additions can be experienced at any time, as their impact is very limited.
The game also features two major paid expansions that deliver dozens of hours of additional gameplay, new zones, and acclaimed storylines. Hearts of Stone can be played as a parallel plot before finishing the main story, sending Geralt into a pact with Gaunter de Meuré and Olgierd von Everec. Blood and Wine introduces the region of Toussaint, though it is recommended to complete both the main campaign and Hearts of Stone before starting it for maximum narrative impact and due to its high difficulty.
Additionally, the Next-Gen version for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series brought free content inspired by the Netflix series, such as the In the Shadow of the Eternal Fire quest and alternative appearances. Furthermore, the newly announced extension Songs of the Past is slated to arrive in 2027 to serve as a final conclusion to Geralt's adventures before The Witcher IV.
