Team17 has officially announced The Escapists 3, the latest entry in their prison escape simulation series. Revealed during the Triple-I Initiative event, the title is scheduled for a 2027 release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The game introduces a significant shift for the franchise by moving to fully 3D environments. Players must still navigate prison routines, study guard patterns, and craft tools to facilitate their escape, though the series' signature humor remains intact with unconventional methods like using melted chocolate.
Content includes five distinct prisons, each featuring unique secrets and characters. Players can now utilize over 120 different weapons and tools. Additionally, a new experience point system allows for character progression, enabling players to unlock and specialize in specific escape strategies that persist across different facilities.
The title supports both solo and cooperative play. It features local split-screen for two players and online cooperative multiplayer for up to four participants, allowing groups to combine their unique skills to coordinate complex prison breaks.
