Key information
PC players can acquire System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster at no cost on the Epic Games Store until October 8, 2026. Claims made during this weekly freebie window remain permanently in the library, though users require a free Epic Games account and the Epic Games Launcher.
Developed by Nightdive Studios and released in June 2025, the update modernizes the 1999 title originally created by Looking Glass Studios and Irrational Games. The game blends first-person shooter action with role-playing character building aboard the ship Von Braun.
The remaster features updated cutscenes, weapon models, and character models, alongside support for up to 4K at 144fps, ultrawide displays, adjustable field of view, and cross-play co-op for up to four players.
In addition to System Shock 2, Epic is giving away the anime-style visual novel Buried Stars until October 8, 2026. Meanwhile, Nightdive's 2023 remake of the first System Shock is currently discounted on Steam.
