Key information
Bit Reactor has initiated the return of furloughed developers to continue work on Star Wars: Zero Company. CEO Greg Foertsch confirmed this process in an October 7 statement, framing it as a vital move for the title's ongoing support.
Prior to the game's launch, the studio placed approximately 80% of its workforce on leave without pay or benefits. While Game File reports that over half of the total headcount is now back on the payroll, the exact number of returning employees remains undisclosed by the studio.
The studio attributed the initial furloughs to unexpected business developments beyond its control. Despite these staffing challenges, the game achieved commercial success, selling over one million copies and garnering a strong reception from players.
While the return of staff restores some capacity, the status of workers still in limbo is uncertain. These events occur within a broader industry context of workforce reductions, such as the recent layoffs at Supermassive Games.
