Key information
The independent developer IsaoWorks released Hex Reverse on Steam on October 7. The game combines card battles, deck building, and territory control on a battlefield made of 19 hexagonal spaces.
During battles, players take turns placing cards with six directional values. Placing a card next to an opponent triggers a comparison of adjacent edges, allowing players with higher values to flip enemy cards.
Adventures consist of multiple combat rounds where winning allows players to select a card from the opponent's deck. Players can also utilize skills requiring SP, navigate special battlefield rules, and return to a base between runs to buy, sell, fuse cards, and upgrade permanent equipment.
The developer utilized ChatGPT and Codex to assist development using Unity, with the goal of testing AI capabilities. However, the developer notes that players opposed to AI-generated content should think carefully before claiming the game.
Hex Reverse is available for free during its first 30 days on Steam, allowing players who acquire it within this period to keep and play it without additional purchases even after it becomes paid.
