Key information

Fresh gameplay clips from an unfinished development build of StarCraft Ghost have recently emerged online. The action-infiltration game focusing on the agent Nova was originally revealed in 2002 for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube before being quietly cancelled in 2006.

The project was passed between different studios, including Swinging Ape and Nihilistic Software. A working build leaked previously in 2020, and new footage was recently uploaded by the YouTube channel Tabula Rasa from an older development build.

The leaked archival footage displays stiff animations and a rudimentary user interface typical of unfinished builds, though the lighting and artistic direction reflected the established universe. Blizzard ultimately halted the project following multiple rewrites as the publisher shifted focus toward World of Warcraft.

Meanwhile, Microsoft recently confirmed that the StarCraft franchise will return as an open-world shooter, with Blizzard indicating that the upcoming title will not be exclusive.
