Key information
Qookka Games has unveiled Sangokushi Senkiban, a mobile title officially licensed by Koei Tecmo Games based on Sangokushi 14. This game distinguishes itself by blending traditional turn-based simulation role-playing game (SRPG) mechanics with large-scale multiplayer strategy simulation (SLG) elements, a combination rarely seen in the mobile market.
The core combat, termed "Senki Battle," utilizes a grid-based board where players command units through tactical maneuvers, skill-based "Senpo" commands, and terrain utilization. Unlike typical mobile strategy games that rely on automated combat, this system emphasizes manual control, allowing players to influence outcomes through strategic positioning and skill combinations, though automated options remain available for those who prefer a hands-off approach.
The game features a vast map with over 200 cities where players join alliances to compete for control of Luoyang. While the game supports manual tactical play, it also includes convenience features like automated siege scheduling and routine resource gathering to mitigate the time-intensive nature of the genre. The developer notes that while manual play offers a competitive edge, the game is designed to accommodate various playstyles.
Sangokushi Senkiban is currently accepting pre-registrations via app stores. By integrating classic SRPG combat into a persistent multiplayer strategy framework, the developers aim to provide a fresh experience that challenges the industry assumption that such tactical depth is unsuitable for mobile strategy games.
