Key information

Rockstar developers have shared new details regarding the narrative and setting of Grand Theft Auto 6 in an interview with Love Magazine. Aaron Garbut, head of development and responsible for Rockstar North, explained that the team went to extreme lengths to accurately portray Florida and Miami by spending time with residents, police officers, and gang members.

Discussing the game's satirical approach, vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries noted that the series avoids focusing heavily on specific national politics or individual real-world figures. Instead, the team explores broader cultural themes, describing Miami and south Florida as a pressure cooker for various forms of madness driven by a contrast between immense wealth and ambition.

Writer Alexa D'Agostino detailed the creation of protagonist Lucia, drawing inspiration from women she knows and her own mother. Additionally, Humphries mentioned that a mentor character named Raul will introduce Jason and Lucía to large-scale criminal heists, supplying local knowledge that the protagonists initially lack.

To further enrich the world, Rockstar established a dedicated pedestrian dialogue team in Los Angeles to populate Vice City and Leonida with diverse perspectives. The game is scheduled to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series.
