During the Runefest celebration, Jagex revealed extensive plans for RuneScape, outlining updates slated for 2027 alongside features arriving sooner. Among the announcements is a new character type called RuneScape Reignited, described by the studio as RuneScape as it was always meant to be.
The Reignited character type functions similarly to an Ironman variant with distinct differences, including access to standard veteran servers and specific reignited servers, a dedicated economy, and a Hall of Legends for world firsts. It will launch on Wednesday, December 2nd, offering free subscription benefits for its first 10 days.
December 2nd will additionally introduce early gameplay remasters and an Adventure Guide UI panel to navigate the game's quests and activities. Furthermore, October will bring a beta for official in-game plugin support.
The year 2027 will be structured around three major update arcs. The first arc, Hoard of Dragons, launches in early 2027 with the Dragon Slayer II quest line to Dragon Isle, Grandmaster Clue scrolls, and an Agility rework.
The second arc, City of Gnomes, features the The Curse of Arposandra grandmaster quest, gnome model remastering, and a communal skilling boss for Woodcutting, Firemaking, Divination, and Farming. The third arc, Secrets of Karamja, will feature a new raid and Queen Rashiliyia’s revival storyline, with more details to follow.
