Key information
Jagex confirmed it is actively developing Runescape 4 as the studio's fourth pillar alongside OSRS and Dragonwilds, featuring a fully 3D world and cartoony yet realistic visuals. The project originated from survival game expansion plans that evolved into a standalone MMORPG with persistent servers and social features.
Before the fourth installment arrives, Jagex will launch Runescape Reignited on Tuesday, December 2, 2026. This release transports players back 25 years to a remastered version of 2001 Gielinor, offering a fresh character start, modernized user interfaces, an adventure guide, and a Hall of Legends to immortalize world-first achievers. A ten-day free trial will be available from launch through Saturday, December 12.
Meanwhile, the modern game's 2027 roadmap includes community plugins, followed by three story arcs: Horde of Dragons in early January featuring Grandmaster Clue Scrolls and an Agility rework, City of Gnomes introducing a new solo boss against Glouphrie, and Secrets of Karamja featuring the Temple of Ah Za Rhoon raid.
