Key information

Developer Summer Eternal has announced its upcoming title, Red Rooster. The studio includes former developers from the RPG Disco Elysium, such as Argo Tuulik. The game is described as a thought-based RPG that integrates immersive simulation elements driven by physics.

The game features a sandbox environment set in the city of Arta-Tantor, which draws inspiration from 1980s Yugoslavia, Ottoman culture, and Nordic social democracy. The city is designed to react to player interference through physics-based interactions, allowing objects to be moved, held, or burned.

Players control Redrick Roost, a prisoner serving a life sentence. To earn a pardon, he must infiltrate a fire station to identify a serial arsonist. Gameplay involves both extinguishing fires and utilizing physics to ignite objects, reflecting a dual concept of seeking truth while confronting internal destructive impulses.

Redrick is joined by companions including Dr. Astrid Albers and a bus driver named Rico. While a release date remains unannounced, the title is planned for an initial PC launch, followed by releases on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
