Key information
Rockstar intends to keep Grand Theft Auto 6's political satire from mirroring today's politicians too closely, aiming instead for lasting relevance through exaggerated fictional content as reported by Eurogamer based on an interview with narrative chief Rupert Humphries.
The studio plans to fill its Florida-inspired setting with campaign robocalls, election signs, radio talk shows, and political commercials rather than pinpointing exact movements or real-world figures.
Humphries noted that previous titles seldom targeted national politics, though GTA 4 highlighted Homeland Security and the Patriot Act due to post-9/11 New York. For the upcoming title, the team wants to avoid chasing short-lived trends given the project's multi-year development cycle.
Instead of mirroring real life directly, the developers isolate issues they wish to explore and exaggerate compelling elements until reaching absurdity, ensuring the satire outlives the news cycles that inspired them alongside the depictions of Jason and Lucia.
