Key information
Rockstar Games has shared new details about Grand Theft Auto VI in an interview with LOVE Magazine, highlighting the ambition behind protagonist Lucia and her relationship with Jason. The studio aims to make Lucia a character on par with Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic while maintaining a distinct personality. Lucia is portrayed as having an immigrant background, growing up in the Newark and New Jersey area near Liberty City before moving to Leonida, and is driven to build a better life.
To recreate Vice City and the state of Leonida, Rockstar conducted extensive research across Florida, visiting localities, the Keys, and Key West alongside locals, police officers, and gang members. Developers described some encountered stories as terrifying. The world design is inspired by the contrast between Miami's extreme wealth and poverty, offering detailed environments designed to immerse players for hundreds of hours, supported by dedicated teams focusing on environmental dialogue, radio stations, advertisements, and satire targeting contemporary culture.
Grand Theft Auto VI is developed and published by Rockstar Games and is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. An official PC version has not been announced by Rockstar at this time. The title arrives more than thirteen years after Grand Theft Auto V as the series' largest and most immersive evolution to date.
