Key information

Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem underwent significant changes during its development. Producer Masachika Kawata revealed that the project was initially conceived as an online multiplayer game, a direction that diverged sharply from the final product.

The decision to pivot away from the online concept followed unfavorable results from internal testing conducted mid-development. Developers concluded that the online focus did not align with fan expectations, leading the team to prioritize a more traditional survival horror experience.

The game features a dual-protagonist structure to balance gameplay styles. While Leon was initially the sole lead, the team determined that his combat proficiency undermined the intended horror atmosphere. Consequently, they introduced Grace to anchor the survival horror elements, while Leon handles the action-oriented segments.

Resident Evil Requiem allows players to toggle between first and third-person perspectives. Following the success of the final release, the title is slated to receive an expansion next year, with further details currently being teased by the game's writing team.
