Key information

Razer has announced the Wolverine V4, a high-end gaming controller designed for Xbox and PC systems. The device is primarily targeted at competitive players, featuring advanced performance optimizations.

For the thumbsticks, Razer opted for capacitive contactless sensors supported by a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter instead of traditional Hall Effect magnetic sensors. This setup aims to provide drift resistance, finer granularity, and smooth signal tracking while avoiding potential magnetic interference.

The controller delivers an 8,000Hz polling rate for both wired and wireless setups on PC, matching high-end esports mice and keyboards. However, Xbox Series X|S hardware limitations restrict the refresh rate to 250Hz.

Additional features include four removable magnetic back buttons, two top claw-grip bumpers, and a modular magnetic design that enables users to swap components and remove unused buttons. First-person shooter players can utilize a back-mounted physical toggle switch featuring software-tunable actuation points.
