Krafton has cancelled the extraction shooter spin-off PUBG: Black Budget after under a year of closed alpha testing. The publishers stated they concluded the project would not deliver a long-term enjoyable experience for players.

The title was pitched as a tactical extraction shooter where mercenaries attempted to recover top-secret technology from an abandoned research facility located on an island trapped within a time loop involving a supernatural threat known as the Anomaly.

Black Budget was revealed in November last year without receiving a full release date prior to the cancellation. Krafton noted that PUBG Studios will apply lessons learned from this development process to future projects.

This cancellation follows the closure of another spin-off, PUBG: Blindspot, which was pulled offline in March shortly after entering early access due to similar sustainability concerns raised by developers ARC Team.
