Key information

Hideo Kojima is intentionally maintaining secrecy regarding his upcoming horror title, OD, to preserve its psychological impact. During the 36th episode of his podcast, KOJI10, Kojima explained that he prefers to remain discreet about the project to avoid revealing too much before launch, a departure from his usual promotional style.

Development of OD faced delays due to SAG-AFTRA strikes, which disrupted performance capture schedules in 2024 and 2025. Production resumed in June 2026, with capture sessions expected to continue through the end of the year. The team is currently transitioning from temporary digital stand-ins to final 3D models and facial scans.

Regarding the espionage project Physint, Sony canceled the title in mid-June due to budget concerns and development milestones. Microsoft subsequently acquired the publishing rights, though Kojima Productions agreed to a reduced development budget. The project is now estimated for release around 2030 to 2031.

Beyond game development, Kojima Productions is expanding the Death Stranding franchise into film with A24 and developing two animation projects. The studio will also host a retrospective exhibition titled Beyond the Strand in Tokyo from October 31 to December 20.
