Key information
More than 10 years have passed since Hideo Kojima released the Silent Hills P.T. teaser exclusively for PlayStation consoles, before Konami ultimately cancelled the project following Kojima's departure. This resulted in the game being removed from the PS Store and becoming exceedingly rare.
A group of fans known as Lorean The Gamer has shared a YouTube video showcasing an ongoing fan project to port Silent Hills P.T. to PC. At the time of writing on 5/10, the team reported that the port is nearly complete at approximately 97 percent finished.
Rather than relying on emulation, wrappers, or a remake using another engine, the developers achieved native Windows PC execution by reverse-engineering PlayStation 4 executable files using C++ and Vulkan. The creators ensure that the port faithfully matches the original data files they copied.
The custom PC port introduces various performance and graphical features not found in the original 30 FPS PlayStation 4 version. These additions include a 60 FPS performance option, resolution settings, support for mouse and keyboard alongside controllers like DualSense and Xbox, as well as AMD FSR 3.1 and NVIDIA DLSS graphical settings.
